Product Identification
Acapella is our original solid surface range, which is produced in sheet form to 12mm thick. This product has been manufactured and utilised effectively for the past seven years. Acapella is an acrylic modified polyester resin blended with alumina, fillers, and additives to form a surface material that can be cast to look like granite or plain marble.
Domani is a solid surface veneer (SSV), which uses the same high quality solid surface material but has been modified such that, with the use of an adhesion system, it can now be applied to a substrate using a spray-on method. All the substrates are sprayed 3mm on the top surface and 2mm on the base. This ensures that your entire top is completely sealed and watertight. A direct comparison was made between solid surface and a solid surface veneer.
Manufacturer
Acapella and Domani products are all manufactured in New Zealand by Polyesters & Acrylics Ltd, Pakuranga, Auckland. Fabrication & Installation In the Auckland area Acapella and Domani are only fabricated in Polyesters & Acrylics Ltd's own fabrication shop under strict supervision, utilising techniques such as steel underbench strengthening systems, glass reinforcing of potential stress areas and plinths where concentrated heat such as gas hobbs are employed. Only approved
installers are able to undertake the important function of installation.
Guarantee
Acapella and Domani both carry a comprehensive 5-year warranty, which is reinforced through Polyesters & Acrylics Ltd 'one stop shop' protocol. This covers the three major areas
of manufacture, fabrication and installation.
Specific Technical Specifications
Acapella and Domani are manufactured from the best resins and fillers available today. Tests of the product have shown them to be more than commensurate with Polymer Industry benchmarks.

Stain Test
To the requirements of Australian Standard 1730.6.44
Preparation
The test apparatus shall consist of glass covers, one for each reagent,
to prevent evaporation. (Covers suggested are small glass bottles or watchglasses.)
The surface of the specimen to be tested shall be washed with a mild soap
or household detergent before testing.
Procedure
| a) |
Run one test with the reagent uncovered and the other with the reagent covered to prevent evaporation and to ensure contact of the staining material with the glass and the plastic material under test.
|
|
b) |
Apply the staining materials to the test specimen and allow to stand for 16 hours at a temperature of 24°C.
|
| c) |
At the end of 16 hours wash the specimen with water and then with ethanol (ethyl alcohol).
|
| d) |
24 hours after cleaning the specimen, examine the specimen for stain by placing it in a horizontal position at normal table height (approx. 760 mm) under overhead lights with good colour rendering properties having an illuminace of not less than 800 1x. and view it from an angle of approx. 90° to the surface. Avoid outside direct light such as sunshine, as such light may accentuate or minimise the stain.
|
| e) |
The effect of the reagents shall be reported as follows:
Unaffected - No colour change and no appreciable change in surface.
Superficial - stains which are easily removed by 600 grit abrasive with maximum removal of 0.15 mm.
